IMPORTING TO THE UK

Dear all

I've been having an old barn find restored (old Citroen traction) abroad in Italy and it has no papers as it was in an old garage on my property. It is LH drive and originated in France as it has a French registration plate.

My question is - as it's restored but not yet running, can I just bung it on a trailer and bring it over on a ferry or do I need papers? If so, how do I get them? Someone mentioned VAT?

Yes you can. Upon arrival in the UK you will need to do a NOVA declaration, no vat/tax is payable. To get it road registered you will need UK MOT and application to DVLA however you will struggle if you do not have existing papers from country of registration as DVLA will require these. If I were you I would shift it before Oct 31st as what will go on after that date is somewhat unclear!
