Welcome
. I asked the same question to topcat who's from my area when i bought my elise and he told me- It will be noisy so take some ear defenders, be careful on roundabouts as other cars may not see you but don't forget you can easily lap other cars on roundabouts.
Look at how many young kids give you the thumbs up or shout "nice car".
Enjoy

Yeah, the kids love them - always shouting "nice car" and the good thing is, they're right! As a response to your question, I took the Elise for a proper B road blast this morning and was in awe at the speed and composure through corners... I've not even run in yet but the pace it'll acheive through the twist and turns is just fantastic!
Got mine on tuesday - very similar age and milage. I test a drove a few but they all have their own personalities.
Hmmmm. Acceleration is instant - same as the initially heavy steering at low speeds (if you're used to nancy power steering). So watch out - you catch the car in front in a little squeeze of the pedal. But the single biggest thing to remember is;
BRAKES - stay well away from the car in front. (We're talking 3-4 elephant counts here.) They take a few minutes of use to to get warmed up and the non-assisted pedal is 'wooden' until you get used to them - in a 'regular' car you would probably do an emergency stop (or are my brakes just poop?). So as you pull up to junctions careful you don't roll out into oncoming traffic!
Also traffic can't always see you being so low down (esspecially at roundabouts with the road signs obscuring your view - and vice-versa.
I'm still taking it easy, but it took me probably 30 minutes of driving to get the hang of her. Just be careful on wet or greasy roads as the tail comes out and you feel her squirm under acceleration.
Good luck and don't get too cocky too soon or you'll be crying.

So right about about the handling and turn in.
Even with the understeering tendancy of the S2 (flame suit on!)
I'm still amazed by my S1 111s. Had a nice trip to the Peaks a few weeks back. Came to a corner where the black and white cheverons must have been removed, cos it was way sharper than I was expecting!
Crossed my fingers and she just dug in and took me round safely. Glad it was dry though!
Looks like my comfort zone is comfortably inside the limits of the Liz (thankfully)
Have fun, but push the limits gradually as you become familiar. Also take it very easy in these showers. The Liz is so light, it does not like wet / greasy roads!

Have been driving S2 non stop since taking delivery - did road test the car before buying; asked advice just to confirm my feelings whilst driving. Girlfriend has complained that the lumbar support is not working and consequently bumpy ride, she now sits in car with large jumper!!!! Why does everyone in VW Golfs want to race you..............?
Thanks for the advice

Welcome, loads to say, really:
The seats feel hard but you can sit in them for hours.
Wear sunglasses as the sun comes in from above the windscreen (not that pre-2004 cars have sunvisors anyway!)
If the roof's on and you're first at the lights, look at the front wings for traffic light reflections, the windscreen's too low otherwise
You'll never be able to climb out of the car and look cool, so don't worry
Take it easy in the rain, especially at first
The brakes only feel odd for the first 5 miles
The temperature gauge should read between 85 and 102, when the fan comes on but get a feel for the heat cycle, any major differences should be checked out pronto - check the water and oil levels regularly
When it rains or you've just washed the car and the temp climbs above 90 in traffic, steam will rise from the front of the car - don't worry it's just the heat of the radiator making the surface water on the car evaporate!
Expect squeaks and rattles
Above all, enjoy - it's the best fun you'll have had in ages, and get along to meets, especially Lotus ones, they're great fun!
