So Windows 10 did its usual trick of telling me to get off my own computer so that it could install the latest panic release update following MS discovery of yet more holes in its OS.

Only this time it's screwed me over good and proper.

Update took 6 hours.
I can't see my printer or load the software for it.
MS Office doesn't work and I can't open MS Word files.

Latest updates were;

Feature update to Windows 10, version 1903
KB4524147
KB4516115
KB4514359

I'm running a full AV scan via Windows Defender.
Assuming that's Ok can I just roll back to before these updates were installed?

Why doesn't Win 10 look for issues and correct them automatically?
It's 2019 not 1987.

An update shouldnt stop Office opening Word files.
Also, this up date is from May.
You clearly have an issue with your PC full stop.
But you blame it on Win10 because its easier.
You probably have too many things updating at once, just do one or two at a time.
Is this an old PC?

Sorted itself out when I downloaded KB4522738.

Don't know why it was waiting for me to allow that update to be downloaded, but I'm sure it's to do with Win 10 being bwillient.

Bill Gates must get up every morning aching from laughing so much in his sleep.

My laptop did it it this morning and needed restarting - twice, then the PC had a huge slow & awkward session in the morning prior to needing restarting tonight to do it.
I know as much about walking on the moon as I do computers, but they run just the same after as they did before, much the same as my phone apps which update themselves every day.

Yup, never had an issue yet though.

If I remember I might let it update every few months or so, but been about a year currently.

Just could not live with a half hour boot up time every frigging day.

This post is what professionals in mental health department call "gaslighting".

You might want to check the other thread here, where the guy has just had his file server encrypted for ransom.
You are not as clever as you think.

Good job they don't work in IT then.

Let me rephrase, blaming someone for someone else's issues* is what you did there and that is classified as "gaslighting".

* These issues are caused by MS being the good old MS but trying to act like they aren't MS which makes them even more MS. I'm guessing you are an MS employee?

No, but I assume you are a genius in everything you do.

Firefox tabs on the laptop wouldn't load after powering up this morning (update downloaded yesterday so this was first use) and at first I thought it was (yet another) line drop-out. However as the iPad was loading fine I restarted the Lappy and it finally behaved. Haven't tried the printer yet..

You seem very angry for some reason, each post of yours here is charged with negativity and attacking others. What's the problem? Tell us.

What the hell is a file server lol.

If someone is desperate enough to hold pictures of my dogs for ransom they are welcome to try haha.

Like I said, I'll stick with it thanks. I feel clever though, surely that counts for somit.?

TBH I get why updates are required for some people, but not being able to use a laptop until half an hour after switching it on is less than useless.
It was either disable the updates or stick a hammer through it.

A file server is a standard term. The clue is in the words.
