Why is the word Super so super super popular?
Discussion
Not as a person to complain about modern day trends but is the current ubiquitous use of the word super in friont of any adjective, and getting to be used in front of verbs, just dumbing down the English language brought on from our american friends?
OK, I am actually super irate about this!
In the old days if you had to describe something slightly better than normal you would use
very
really
pretty
Now all replaced with super xxxxx.
If something was even better than better than normal you would say
extremely
amazingly
incredibly
Now all replaced with super super xxxx.
As well as replacing those words before adjectives, such as super sweet, super annoying etc etc they are also getting to be used with verbs, such as I super want that to happen, or I super hate that.
Even the innocent noun is subject to this onslaught.

Super congrats? I raise that with a really super very super Congrats.
Ok, I am a grumpy old middle aged git, but even car reviewers have started doing it in the UK ... NOOOOOOOOOO
It even seems I am late to the party, from 3 years back

I just hope Dr Who can go back in time and get his sonic screwdriver out and fix things.
You may now either ignore me or fling your arrows in my direction, I was just posting so that people might take note and perhaps spank their children in Scotland for using it wrongly.
Have a super weekend.

Can't say I have really noticed it.
However, starting every fecking sentence with the word So, that annoys the life out of me.
This is the single most annoying thing on the TV news. Pretty much every "expert" interviewee under the age of 40 seems to do it when answering a question. However, starting every fecking sentence with the word So, that annoys the life out of me.

So, I was going to say the same thing. However, starting every fecking sentence with the word So, that annoys the life out of me.
So, I'm listening on the radio, or on the TV at a seemingly intelligent person speaking. So, they start every sentence with 'so', you start to drift away from what they are actually saying and wait for the 'so.
So annoying. It's PR speak and it has infected everyone.

king annoying. Seems to have replaced the word "very".
