New bikes first service
Discussion
I never knew it made such a difference!
Ok its only a 125 and all things are relevant, But the speed!!!
I can now get to 65 instead of 58, it gets there much quicker, it turns in better, it stops better, is this normal for big bikes to or have i just noticed cause ive gone back to a small bike and got a portion of my big bike performance back?

Generally after the 1st service they run worse at best or it comes back with something broken or scratched that wasn't there before
I hate taking a bike in for a service but needs must on a relatively new and expensive bike. And to answer your question a service makes fook all difference , a repair is another story.

Not quite true.In ye olde carburettor days, a lot of Jap bikes were set up a bit rich at the factory so a proper first service would dial that down a bit.
Also, an old knacker with tight valves, burnt plugs and a blocked air filter will feel like a totally different bike after it's done right.
But yeah, a first service on a modern 125 won't change much...

I’m with Mak, the further a bike stays away from most dealers the better!
I hate taking a bike in for a service but needs must on a relatively new and expensive bike. I took my Diavel in for its first service because a) it’s under warranty and b) it has a stupid modern service warning nonsense that can only be recent by Ducati’s DDS dealer only computer.
I paid £190 for first service (an oil change plus checking the torques on various bolts are in spec chain adjust and that’s about it). The chain was fine when it went in, they loosened it and it was slapping about on the swingarm after the service. Checked at home, out of spec so I had to redo that. Then I thought the oil looked low on checking a couple of days later, but I assumed as I couldn’t see it in the sight glass that the oil level should be checked hot like on some of my other bikes. Turns out it should be done cold, it wasn’t even registering in the sight glass, I had to add 0.4L. All the bolts already had paint on them from torquing so nothing to be gained from that really. Basically, the job they did was a load of s
te. Warranty runs out in May when the next service is due, I don’t think I’ll be bothering with the dealer again, will just have to learn to live with the service indicator until DIY software comes out for it. This is why I do all my own work, I don’t trust many dealerships and have had so many bad experiences with main dealers and specialists in the past.I've had several new bikes over the years, all from my local multi-franchise dealer. They've changed around staff over the last 10 years I've been going there & have recently installed a brand new workshop. I have never had any issues whatsoever. In fact I'm very impressed, so much so that I'll plug 'em: P & H Motorcycles, Gatwick.
Did I notice any difference after the first service? Apart from the chain being properly cleaned/lubed/adjusted, I didn't notice any difference...
