Good news: Car is back with fresh service...and it doesn't cut out anymore..

Bad news: It's gonna need a suspension rebuild...

I also noticed that on the way back from the garage the oil pressure didn't hold at all steady, when driving it was just below 2 -- but stationery it was .5

Being mechanically challenged I don't know what's involved in replacing all the bushes, and sorting out the ride height -- or whether the oil pressure is going to settle down...

Don't worry about the oil pressure. It sounds about right. RV8s are all about flow rather than pressure.

Mine idles at about 8 when hot, and then runs between 20 and 40 depending on revs
You've probably got a lower viscosity oil in the sump following the service - worth phoning the garage to find out what they filled it with.
If its less than 10w 40 its probably a bit thin. I know people swear by 0w 50 mobil stuff, but my cars never felt happy on it. I run Castrol Magnatec.

As for the suspension, - good luck!!

I agree on the pressure, mine (350i) is between 1.5 and 2 on full chat, and is 0.25 on idle. It has been like that for the last 30,000 miles, and is still going strong.

The guage can be inaccurate for one thing, and yes, it's all about flow.

Hmmm, those pressures really are low though. TVR say 2 bar (26p/in2) at 2K, full revs should be above 4 bar and tickover should be 1. Try taking the cover off the oil pump and see if it has a shadow; if so have it faced. Or the guage could just be giving a false connection but that usually reads high.

Buy new bushes and pay someone with a hydraulic press to replace them; shot blast and treat the arms whist you're at it.

Usually fit new springs.
