Hi all, I ordered my Jet Black Met 992 C4S back at the end of May (it left the factory last Monday), at the time the standard spec included...
“Engine compartment cover grille with vertical slats in Black (high-gloss)”
However, since the very recent introduction of the option “Rear lid air intake slats painted Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur”, I see Porsche have now changed the standard spec to...
“Engine compartment cover grille with vertical slats in silver colour (high-gloss)”

All the 992’s at my OPC today had gloss black inserts, so I’m now wondering what colour mine will be?

Can anyone who has taken delivery in the last couple of weeks confirm what colour theirs are please.

Many thanks

Surely it should be specified on your order form?

Unfortunately there is no detailed standard equipment breakdown section on my order form however...
I have saved PDF’s from the online Configurator at the time that state gloss black in the standard spec breakdown, but if you configure one now (you can’t tell from the images), the standard spec states silver.

I am pretty sure the answer is that they can vary the spec....IIRC when my wife’s Boxster was waiting to be built they changed the spec to include DAB and something else. It’s a bit like they can increase prices at any stage until your car has left the factory gate...obviously you can reject the car but they don’t have to honour the price on the order form. With my GT3 they changed the colour of the harnesses that came with it...when I specced it they were red and it arrived with black.

I've got to the bottom of it, for those interested...

All Carrera 2's (both base and S) have:
Engine compartment cover grille with vertical slats in black (high-gloss)
All Carrera 4's (both base and S) have:
Engine compartment cover grille with vertical slats in silver colour (high-gloss)

So given both 2's and 4's now share the same body/rear light strip, aside from the model badge, this is how you can tell them apart now.

Good info.
Thanks!
Interesting that you got to the bottom of it.
I’ve also been trying to ascertain which models have which color.
What’s your info source?
I’ll start taking note and see if I can validate.

The Silver does not look good in my opinion. I had a demo C4 and could not work out why it was silver. Looks a bit bling. Can you make it black as an option? Does Aerokit get rid of this (like it does the ugly brake light).

No problem

I went into the Configurator for each 911 and generated the pdf summary, I then went to the standard spec section and it lists the slat insert colour + I collected my 992 C4S back at the end of Oct and it has silver along with with every pic of a 4 I’ve seen.

I agree, fortunately there is now an option to have the inserts body colour, unfortunately this was not available when I ordered my black C4S last summer.
