BMW 3 Series xDrive M Sport Touring F31
Discussion
Hi,
Just wondering what people's opinion are on the Pre-LCI 320d and 330d xDrive M Sport Touring Auto? What mpg would you expect from both? What's reliability like? Is the xDrive system troublesome? Is the xDrive system worth the extra running costs and does the system require any servicing?
The 330d appears more tempting due to the extra speed (0-60 in 5.6 seconds), wouldn't be surprised if on a typically British day that 330d would be faster than some of the M Performance models like the M135/40i or even an old e46 M3.
Thanks,
Levi

Fuel economy will not differ enormously but the 330d is so much nicer. No problems with the xdrive system, very reliable and gives it a very surefooted handling, which combined with winter tyres makes it quite the all weather tool.
If you can find one with adaptive dampers, they do make a difference in ride and handling.

The 330d is a wonderful engine and the transmission compliments it very well, especially with how they've set it up. Xdrive does feel a little floaty but the grip is fantastic, especially in the wet. Comes with launch control as well.
It's very impressive that a near 5 second car to 60mph can also return over 60mpg if stuck into full eco mode and you concentrate at around 50mph.

We have a 335d M Sport Touring and it's a brilliant car. No problems with it at all, on a run to Cornwall and back from the Midlands it returned 49mpg...
Round town it'll do about 32mpg.
As said above, adaptive M Sport suspension is an absolute must if you go 335d. Very floaty in normal mode, fine around town but quite disconcerting on an A or B road.
We also have the M Sport Performance Brake System, which is awesome.
Nice place to sit on a long drive, sports seats are really comfortable, enough space in the back for two tall teenagers, a bit tight for three though...
It's very rapid, frugal, decent to insure, looks lovely, it's very well equipped and is nice to drive.
Overall, it's brilliant for our needs.
