I'm hoping for help. Can anyone tell me if 2006 is a gen 1 or 2 as the Internet is a wash of contradiction.
Also want to know if anyone has found a good insurance warranty cover most won't touch it due to age etc.
I'm new to this forum so tried to keep all the info short and straight to the point. Look forward to hearing from anyone that can help.
Cheers Guy

Gen 1.

Gen 2 didn't turn up until 2009. Most 2009s I've seen are gen 2 but there is the odd gen 1 registered I 2009. You can most easily tell by looking at the interior /centre console .

As above, You do get 2009s that are still late registered gen 1's quickest way to tell for me is the smoother looking LED rear lights.

I've never found a good one.

Are you buying from a garage?

If so you'll have some sort of comeback.

If buying private then you need to start the car from cold.

Any rattles, or smoke, on cold start up, walk away.

These cars can throw up some huge bills so tread carefully.

Thanks for the reply. Buying private. Stated from cold on a wet day and lots of steam from exhaust no smell of smoke. Opened oil filler cap and found a bit of moisture there but oil seems clean and no signs of mechanical issues. I have asked about bore scoring and the oil seals and await their answer. It's not been driven much in 4 years mainly garaged and done just over 44k

Sounds like a nice one.

Ask the seller where they've been having it serviced/looked after.

I'd probably call them to ask about the car, just to give a little peace of mind.

My first Porker was a 2006 Cayman S many years ago, loved that car, felt special every time I drove it.

Enjoy.

Is the gen 2 3.4 a much better and safer engine? What are the differences between gen 1 and 2?
