Been playing a while now and I need some "stuff" from the Nether. Every time I go I die almost instantly (Ghasts!), lose all my stuff, respawn at base, go back through the portal to retrieve my stuff and come out somewhere totally different.

I could do with fire resist and blast resist potions plus health potions. to get these I need to brew them with a stand. To make the stand I need a blaze rod. Blaze rods are from blazes in the nether. I also need nether wart (i think) to make base portions and thats the nether as well.

So anyone any tips on not dying there within 30 seconds and collecting the bits I want? (Killing blazes).

My latest attempt and I have emerged in a cave right next to a nether fortress and managed to wall myself in so not died straight away. there are blazes nearby but too far away for sword and I dont have enough arrows to spam them with that. I would take an infiinty bow but dont want to die and lose it there!

So any tips please? smile

thanks

Armour - top to toe in, at the very least, iron armour. Take plenty of food to replenish health. Don't be afraid to back away, strengthen up, and return.

Arrows - make some. Farm chickens, kill for feathers. Get flint by mining gravel.

You can easily take on one blaze with iron armour and an iron sword. If you roam around the fortress (leave markers to get out!) you'll find a solo blaze.

For fire proof potion you'll need even more blaze rods to make magma cream wink Once you have fire resistance, off you go! You'll be unstoppable in the nether. Don't forget to use redstone to increase the potion from 3 mins to 8 mins.

bedrock or Java?

use your shield as much as possible, try to use sword to hit back projectiles from ghasts. Link to Pixlriffs who has a survival guide for bedrock players! but is useful all the same, also be really really careful.

Thanks.

Yes have iron armour/sword on.

Farming chickens, I try but keep getting message along lines of "you have too many chickens already" (I have about 10) meanwhile Ive got 100's of sheep!

Have seen something about snowballs on them (blazes) so may take some of those in and try.

Have tons of redstone so that sounds good, especially for underwater potions.

PS4 Edition btw.

UPDATE:
Decided to risk taking my enchanted bow with infinity and a couple of other things on it in with me. This one shot kills blazes and ender skeletons and I didnt get killed. Huzzah! Got two or three blaze rods in the end, some magma cream and brought nether wart and soul sand back to overworld to make a nether wart farm.
Built a brewing stand, put some bottles in and got killed by an armoured up skeleton that had somehow got in my base past all the torches and walls and lost 13 levels of XP., Grrrrr. Anyway finally have 3 bottles of awkward potion ready to go.

13 levels of XP doesn't take that long, assuming it is the same as Java - fishing generates XP quite quickly. Especially if you are lucky and fish up a nicely enchanted fishing rod. Enchanted bows are possible too, as are books of enchanting.

Fastest way of gaining XP is mining quartz in the Nether.

I wouldn't recommend mining through the red rock in the Nether though. Large pools of lava can exist anywhere. Stick to the edges!

Set off with my 8 minute underwater potions to 2 shipwrecks Id marked,
collected two treasure maps, emeralds diamonds etc fronm the chests within (3 in each). Trying to find one treasure went too close to shore and a zombie got in the boat. Went to land, got out ready to kill it and got killed by a skeleton. Lost enchanted bow, all the treasure maps, everything. Nearly threw the controller through the screen in rage quit.
Respawned with no map and no boat and had no clue where I'd been killed. Gutted.
