How do you define "fun in a car"?

There are some MX5 deals around for about £160, but you'd need to stick in a larger initial payment, and the mileage allowance is lower.

Bank Loan of 7k over 4 years @3.3%= £155pcm.

etc etc.

So five year old hot hatch and some equity at the end of four years, or 3 years in a new abarth and guaranteed no surprise bills or road tax.
It's a nice choice to have.

Or if you're brave and not that bothered about newish/new

it is indeed. if only the seat position in the Abarth wasn't so god damn uncomfortable.

A hatch will win out, just depends which.
