“You can’t shut down Parliament“ said the MPs.
“You will be denying the people their voice.” They said.
So it re-opened. They started arguing again.
Now Parliament is about to close once more.

So what did they achieve???

They managed to pour lots of our money into the pockets of lawyers, other than that SFA.

But surely they all used the past weeks to have jolly good debates, and votes, and steer the ship of state through troubled waters?

Well those opposing Brexit did fk all except to waste valuable time trying to undo anything constructive. They should have known our opinion of them was pretty jaded from before that point and they should have gone about their business in a more honest way.

Oh I don't know - I think the debate on a "kinder politics" after Parliament returned was well supported and debated in a way that made me think that there was hope....................

They stopped an unlawful act.

I believe this has been widely reported.

It was only deemed unlawful after parliament was prorogued and it was brought before a court, until that point, it was entirely legal.

It wasn't unlawful until the 24th Sept. If there had been no court case it would have been legal.

edit... beaten to it...

I've often wondered, how do they get 650-odd (or 650 odd if you prefer) people in there? Do they sit upstairs too?

Not upstairs but there's not actually enough seats if everyone is there, I believe. That was supposed to be sorted by the boundary changes but don't know where that's got to now.

What I find most frustrating about this is that there seems no coherent plan other than to use every wheeze they can possibly come up with to keep kicking the Brexit can down the road and hope something crops up to make it go away. It seems to me quite reasonable to be for Leave or for Remain but quite unreasonable to just be in favour of nothing except obstructing anything actually happening one way or the other. They should have some guts and step forward with something constructive and at least be open about what they really want.

True. Although they were sort of forced into it after Swinson said she wanted a 2nd referendum but would ignore the result if it wasn't what she wanted.

It got blocked by Labour as even though it was utterly independent the changes actually meant labour lost loads of seats as currently its skewed towards labour oddly. They didn’t like this so said NO. Strange that I guess it’s not democracy unless it’s ldemocrecy that elevates labour.

Why do you say so much when you know so little?

Rubbish, they helped your love idol Boris improve his impressive record of losses.

He's just copying labour's manifesto of rampant spending with his Queen's speech so he won't need much time to work on it anyway.

So you both agree that it was unlawful.
