Ready to rebuild an astra 1.7 diesel, and head gasket came with a tube of sealant.
I've never known head gasket to use sealant before, and have been out of this kind of work 20 years now, so is there anyone who can advise if sealant should be used or not
Regards
Pbeatts.

If it comes with it, I'd suggest using it. Every car program I watch now uses sealant on just about every gasket going so this doesn't sound too odd to me.

Thank you very much for your prompt response.
I could not reply earlier, as busy working on the car in pouring rain.
I found my answer, there was a very small piece of paper2 inches by two inches, which had this printed on it,
"This gasket must be used dry, and clean of any oil, grease or dirt. No gasket sealer to be used in conjunction with this gasket".
You can guess it was very small print. I only came across it because my grandson picked it up after it fell out of the packaging when I opened it. I never even seen it fall out.
Thank you once again for prompt reply, and I am nearly finished the work in car now, should have it running by tomorrow.
