Used car purchase: BMW 330D 2007 NO spare key worth buying?

Was looking to purchase a Auto convertible BMW 330D 2007 107000 miles FSH for 5000 pounds. It is a private sale and the owner is willing to deliver for gas price.

However i have one problem which is that the car only has 1 spare key and the owner is willing to deliver it for gas price. He told me when he bought the car it only came with one spare key.

Tbh im fine with just having one key, but ive read somewhere that people would hide the masterkey and steal the car after selling it. Should i go ahead with the purchase?

Isn't the real issue that a new key would cost £6000 ?

Take it to a BMW dealer or specialist and get all the keys not in your posession un-paired from the car.

Have the car delivered to a friend or relatives address nearby if your worried but in reality we are talking about a 12 year old BMW with over 100k on the clock. I doubt the sellers intention is to steal it back, more likely they are offering to deliver as they want rid of it.

Depends what shape it is. Is it a saloon (£3.5k-4.2k), estate (4k-4.5k) or a coupe which may attract £5k looking at autotrader?

I’m looking for an e90 saloon msport with the engine seized or something to salvage parts off for my 2007 e90 320d that I bought for £400 just to make it look nicer so have been watching prices of these

Auto Convertible.....sounds about right then price wise, maybe a tad overpriced still, closer to £4500 really, privately.

The fact is a large proportion of cars of this age will have just one key so if you feel confident in the car and the seller then go for it.

Over 3 years ago I bought a 2006 Z4 Coupe that only had 1 key, but as it was nearly 10 years old I wasn't too surprised.

Then I found someone on a Z4 forum who cut and coded keys so I got him to do me a spare flip-style key, and while he was coding it he un-coded the missing ones!

Depending on where you are, I've read good reviews for "bmkeys" in E.London who could probably do the same for you.
