New owner - Cerbera 4.2
Discussion
Hi all,
Just thought I would introduce myself - I currently have a 4.5 Chimaera and last week decided I needed a Cerbera in my life!
I had a couple of concerns prior to going to test drive one last Monday, whether I would like the power delivery compared to the Rover, same with the noise.
Needless to say I was very pleasantly surprised! The Chimaera is a lovely car which I love driving, but the Cerb just felt like a racer in comparison. It was a wet day so I really didn't push it, but I'm looking forward to gradually pushing it more.
The car I've gone for is mechanically sound, just had the 12k tappet service and felt very tight. It's no garage queen, needing a few titivating bits but I was more conscious about getting something solid.
Can't wait until next week when I hope to collect!
Lastly, huge thanks to Mark at Amore who consistently goes the extra mile to help out - also had a chat to Alan (his specialist mechanic) which helped massively with the intricacies of the AJP.

I recognise that numberplate...it was a gloucestershire one. 96, 4.2, unmolested... nice.
Are you local? Shout if you need a hand with anything, I wouldn't be far away
That's the one! Are you local? Shout if you need a hand with anything, I wouldn't be far away
That's very kind of you, thank you

I'm near Banbury, north Oxfordshire - around 1hr20m from Amore, so not a million miles away.

That's my old car - good to see it back on the road.
Good stuff - I think the last owner works in South Africa so had a battery isolator installed which suits me as I go through phases where I'm away a lot with work. When did you sell?Jimm218 said:
Looks nice Tim.
Get yourself along to the Oxfordshire car club meet. Third Thursday at the Duke of Marlbrough near woodstock.
There are a few of us Cerb owners there and always happy to meet others!
Sounds good to me. My neighbour has taken me to a couple of local meets over the summer - one in Bodicote and another in Little Kineton which was immense! I took the yellow Chimaera and saw a few Cerbs there too.Get yourself along to the Oxfordshire car club meet. Third Thursday at the Duke of Marlbrough near woodstock.

Thanks for the welcome all
Looks like I’m hopefully picking up this Saturday afternoon now
Can’t wait - much more so than when I picked up the Chim, and I’m not sure why as it’s a cracking car?! I think it must be as I’ve lusted after a Cerbera for a long time
Fingers crossed the weather is good

5 is old enough not to need the impact cushion I reckon. Watch out for the seatbelt mounting bolt though, rear passengers can hit their head on it.
Haven’t received your email, not sure why..
Very strange Haven’t received your email, not sure why..

Good to know, thank you. Is there anything you can do to mitigate the mounting bolts?
Sorry to hijack this thread but I'm new to TVR ownership and this Forum as well and couldn't see a way to start a new thread for the first 14 days (but it seems I can post replies). I purchased a Chimaera 450 3 weeks ago and am just getting used to it! A track day at Brands last week proved educational, especially on 10-year old T1Rs with 2.5mm tread on the back! Still...I learned a lot.
Having devoured a lot of the content on this Forum over the last couple of weeks, I have since fitted Yoko AD08Rs all round but have had to compromise a bit on the sizes simply because of what's available:
F: 205/50/R15 (86V)
R: 225/50/R16 (92V)
The shockers are Gaz Gold all round so I guess there is some adjustment of ride height possible but I'd be grateful for any replies that tell me what I can expect from fitting these sizes (handling? ride? speedo reading? etc). If I'm honest, the front looks a bit under-tyred now, both in terms of width and sidewall height, but I have so far only driven back from the tyre fitters so yet to experience it on a run.
Thanks,
Colin
