So, been the proud owner of a beautiful Vantage for a year now and love it! I have an issue where I’m sometimes having trouble engaging first or second gear from static position at lights etc. Clutch is pressed but can’t push it in to 1st, so I try 2nd, but both won’t go in. I release the clutch and try again and it’s ok. Clutch seems mid point position when biting, car can be warm or cold and it started 2-3 months ago. I’m aware of many quirks but not this. Any thoughts?

Have you checked your clutch for slipping ?
Up a hill; higher gear than would be normally be appropriate; fairly low revs; then floor throttle to see if revs increase faster than your speed builds.

If that test is OK, then I wonder if the linkage between gear lever and gearbox could be out of adjustment.

Hope it is not an internal gearbox problem.

Doing it warm as well does not bode well! Because they all do it cold, sir.

Depends on the severity, and I found that when I tried to push it gently and then more firmly it totally baulked.

As posted before, I had the following done under warranty, in order

Bleed and test the clutch
Adjust the gearbox linkage
Change the gearbox fluid
Change the clutch

Thanks for the tips I will do the tests and checks. I have 17 days on an existing warranty left... time is of the essence I think!

Absolutely - as I say mine was all under warranty and get it to the dealer!
