2020 calendar update as of 9/10/2019
Discussion
Exciting news, the calendars are all done and I will be collecting them Friday this week. i have not seen the finished project yet but they seemed pretty pleased with them.
I will be getting some carded A3 envelopes that are slightly oversized so that hopefully they will take more than one calendar at a time.
I can then weigh the finished items, in the envelopes to get a UK postage cost. Once the weight is known, I can also estimate the international postage.
Being a technological dinosaur personally, I will try and get a short video available done by the kids to show the finished item with the final costs.
Stay tuned.
Gerry.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for the encouraging words.
Got to the printers this morning and I was in time. I have even added
"All images supplied by members of the “PistonHeads” Aston Martin forum"
to the front page.
The final product will be an A4 landscape image above an A4 landscape calendar. Originally I wanted gloss paper to show the images to their best, but the printers suggested satin because it hides fingerprints better and can be written on for notes in the calendar section. It will be bound in white with a hanging loop at the top. All pretty standard stuff really.
I just need to decide now whether to post them out rolled in a tube, (which I don't really like) but is pretty safe, or send in a carded envelope and risk the postal service bending/folding it.
Opinions?
Gerry.

Nope, twice A4 is A3. Total size of the calendars is A3 plus a bit for the binding and hanger. I put A5 because the way my brain operates, I saw A5 as the natural size bigger than A4 but its the other way.Do you mean A4?

OMG, I just bought 100 carded envelopes for sending out the calendars, not bad at 40p each, then I went onto Royal Mail to get a postage price.
The best I can get is a SMALL PARCEL because of the 500mm x 340mm envelope at £5.10 second class up to £6.80 for first class signed-for within the UK.
Thats almost the price of the calendars!!!
Does anyone know of a sensible priced service for a 500x340 envelope around 500g? (that will be approx the weight with a single calendar enclosed.

Gerry,
Have you looked at this kind of thing?
https://www.parcel2go.com/service/whistl
or Google something like "bulk mailshot service".

To add to the fun, my two will be international The best I can get is a SMALL PARCEL because of the 500mm x 340mm envelope at £5.10 second class up to £6.80 for first class signed-for within the UK.
but no worries, whatever it costs just let me know, you`ve put in the hard work at your end, not going to quibble over a few quid here and there. On a side note (and a soapbox), receiving products sent to Switzerland over a certain value is a financial lottery, I have found.
No taxes are levied on consignments with a value up to 65 CHF (51.50 GBP) evidently, but this includes shipping costs, customs clearance, insurance, customs duties, etc! The customs clearance fee charged by the Swiss Post depends on the origin and on the VAT of the consignment. There is a basic fee of CHF 11.50 for consignments from Germany, France, Austria and Italy, and CHF 16 for consignments from all other countries. There is also a 3% surcharge on taxable merchandise.
I have no idea of the inner workings of the system but it seems somewhat arbitrary. I have previously purchased two old, second hand lenses from separate sellers overseas, where the tax has been higher on the cheaper lens, randomly... The Aston jacking pads that are no doubt widely known on this forum I ended up paying over 50% more for, than you folks in Old Blighty.
Recently I received a "gift" from overseas that, with postage, pushed it slightly over the 65chf threshold, meaning I had to shell out 26CHF to get my 45CHF gift.
The joys of living in a economically aggressive country. Nazi gold, anyone?

Yep, I can relate to all of that. When I was in Switzerland, I was sometime importing video games from Japan and the tax was completely, utterly random.

Anyway, mine too will need to be shipped to Italy if possible.
