Hi Monty, just sitting in my MC/Garage on my desktop looking at mine, my must haves were manual 6 speed, black with black top and black leather, sports seats and sports chrono.....sports exhaust and Bose would have been nice but no problem without. The big bonus for me was Gen2 alloys....but i think if you can get all 4 of the aforementioned options you will be doing very well

Had one as my 2nd 911. Mine was cobalt blue , black leather and roof with Carrara classics 5 spokes (so easy to keep clean), Porsche sports exhaust (absolute must or get standard ones hacked for similar noise), 6 speed, heated seats + Bose. That’ll do for me. I did put the Porsche Fuchs on it for that 997 speedster looks and repainted some new mirror inserts in black gloss to match but there you go. We all have our moments. A lovely car and pleasure for own

Most are pretty well specced. Carrera sport alloys my favourite. It is my wife's car so memory seats the only must for us as she is 8 inches shorter than me.

Thank all for your feed back, some very nice cars. can anyone give me the reason that the following car at auction sold for such a high price or is this price the car sold for about right,

I had exactly that spec car, same alloys
The Gen 2 alloys really do lift it significantly

Idiotic price, I traded a similar car 3 years ago for £23500
If you have £38k to spend get a gen 2 non-S for only a few K more

That's a crazy price for a 997.1.

I'm surprised no-one's mentioned the dreaded bore-scoring issue that's widely discussed on here. A bill for £10k of engine rebuild would certainly dampen the enthusiasm of any 997 owner. There are a few 997 Carrera S and 4S for sale on here and Autotrader at over £30k and none of them mention any engine work having been done. One Carrera S has had a full Hartech rebuild and is up for under £30k.

I bought my Carrera S three years ago, having searched high and low for one that had had a Hartech rebuild. It had 74k on the clock when I bought it and it's just gone over 100k. It has sports chrono, PSE, sports seats and Bose and I've installed a Pioneer head unit with CarPlay. It's been fantastic to drive - I've taken it all over Europe, the UK and Ireland, but the engine issue is something that shouldn't be taken lightly.

Edit: It's arctic silver over blue, manual and cab.

Or on other hand you could follow my approach & buy a car expecting to have engine work. I bought my 997.1 Cab from a Mannheim auction last July, It’s engine is currently at Hartech for a full rebuild. All the typical things are also being sorted, some on precautionary basis. When I get it back it will be as perfect as it can be. Plus I know exactly what has been done. Overall cost to me £34k. I could bought an early 997.2, but I wanted blue & before long their PCM will look prehistoric too.

Good eyes open approach, only issue is if circumstances force you to sell or you don’t like it etc, you’re sitting on a big loss where as a gen 2 less so.
Did they not do gen 2 in blue then?
