Multistrada or SuperDuke 1290 GT?
Discussion
I'm in the market for a Multistrada 1200, about a 2013 or 2014 model. I viewed one whose owner was replacing it with a KTM SuperDuke 1290. Which looked awesome! Seems to have a lot of great features, sounds good, probably more reliable. And 170-odd BHP. Now I'm wondering whether I should be considering one of them instead.
Does anyone here have experience of both? If so, pros and cons please...
Thanks!

I think both are great bikes.
I have the new 2019 model GT. Since march I have done over 4k miles. It's a great bike, still looks like new, zero issues with reliability, I have done 2 track days and sedate/fast road riding and enjoyed the sure brilliance of the machine. It has all the aids to keep you safe and the bike has received the most compliments from woman than any other bike I've owned.
I would recommend a test ride f both and buy the GT : )

All the reviews I've seen rave about the GT - the 2016-2019 model was well liked at the time, and updated this year with a new dash etc and still loved.

I had a 2014 Pikes Peak MS and I absolutely loved it. Sold it at 2.5years old with 16K on the clock and apart from having three fuel tank senders and one suspension sensor it was faultless. I rode it down to Jerez, did a couple of track days and also a couple of trips to the ring on it with no problems whatsoever. Mine had the skyhook suspension which was great so try and find one with that option. Make sure the bike is the 2014 model as these had an engine upgrade and a few other tweaks.
Swapped the MS for a 2017 Superduke GT which I then swapped earlier this year for 2019 Superduke GT. Need I say anymore?

I have a 2017 GT and have tried my buddy's Pikes Peak MS. Both great bikes and engines, but for me the KTM is the more sporty option and the MS more comfortable, but you would need to test both. The GT has everything for me, huge low down grunt, lots of top end power, 23L tank and 205kg dry weight. Brakes, suspension and TC all brilliant imo.

I hope you're an ugly bastid or you've got no chance with them!! I have the new 2019 model GT. ……. the bike has received the most compliments from woman than any other bike I've owned.

On a list of superlatives regarding my GT, the word "pretty" would certainly not feature!!!

They're amazing bits of kit, I just try not to look at it

There are 18 spec brand new bikes still available for less than £12k, with another £k getting you all the touring kit and an Akra. The 19 model is great, but to save £4k, i'd say look at the 18 spec new bikes.
Had a multistrada gt in 2014 and loved it when it wasn’t at the dealers, rode absolutely beautifully but I had s
t service from my local dealer.
Have ridden the new GT a few times and absolutely loved it, handles lovely, comfy and nice and sporty, I was going to get one but ended up getting the adventure S, which for me is very similar to the multistrada in the way it goes and rides, very happy with it.

Won't be long before the MY19 bikes will be discounted. Do KTM sell any bikes at full retail price? Thanks to everyone who has replied. I've a specific question: which bike has more legroom? What I mean is, on which bike are your legs straighter. I've found that if my knees are too bent then the bike quickly becomes uncomfortable. I guess it's a function of the distance between seat and pegs - the greater the distance, the straighter the leg.
Does anyone have an idea which bike provides more room?
