So I picked up my 510hp stereo last weekend. What a rush. The sound is intoxicating. The guys at AM Bristol were amazing.

Couple of questions:

Is the android auto from astonmartin upgrades any good?

How do I fix the hole in the fuel tank that seems to be a common issue with the marque?

Seriously though, dream come true and it has exceeded all expectations.

android auto is fantastic and basically brings the vantage bang up to date and future proofs the car. However, it does cost a pretty penny from aston to do the upgrade, so maybe look as Aston Installations?

Haha yeah, a post rate of 2 in 62 months is verging on creepy.

Christ, 2.4mpg that's something. I'm not comfortable enough with the car yet to be able to push her that hard.

So far I'm just loving having a manual gearbox again with an high octane symphony orchestra up front. I'm also spending quite a lot of time in my garage these days just gazing.

Glad you bought that car - you saved my bank account! Absolute stunner, as they say.

“They all do that, sir”. Though it’s a bit disconcerting watching the needle sink when you’re going nowhere in slow traffic.

Android play/CarPlay: I think it’s well worth it. You get full control of the phone from the car, can select whatever music, podcasts or whatever you want, can listen to tv picked up by your phone (useful for sports events I find), and can use Waze for nav and speed camera alerts. Expensive, but worth it.

Though I’m a bit of a tech-phile and if your attitude to tech is a bit more “meh” then I can see a big question mark over whether it’s worth it.

Seen that, I'm not sure my car can have the Aston Martin upgrade (think it's £3k-£4k) as it's 9 years old. Any idea what the costs for Aston installations would be? Part of me is reluctant to add 3rd party switches and knobs to the interior it being in such good condition.

This is the premium sound system. All that Bang Bang Olufsen nonsense, pay it no heed!

You are correct that AM can't upgrade your car. I was quoted £1395 inc VAT and installation by Aston Installations for my MY2014 V8S and I would have thought it would be the same for yours. I have't gone for it as yet because I also don't like the idea of non-OEM switches in the lovely interior. Hoping one day they will be able to make it work via the existing "joystick" selector/button.

I had the Aston installations CarPlay setup installed earlier in the year. Can’t recommend the guys enough. It is a compromise but works rather well once you get over the grainy oem screen.
The additional switch gear is unobtrusive and completely removeable aside from a couple of small holes in the ash tray.
