So i inherited an asian ladies clothes shop in feb and we've decided to go online with it as the retail side of things has been in long decline.

We started off on ebay and get regular sales - we sell well when its Eid or when it comes to the month end. 100% positive feedback.

basically i list them and the missus handles the postage and buying of the new stock.

So after doing well on ebay and looking at the fee's you have to pay we've launched our own website.

http://www.kapracouture.co.uk/

Its been open a few months. I've been working on the side of SEO etc and we're getting regular visitors to the site. I cross post via facebook, instagram and twitter. I've been tweaking it and trying to get the whole thing to work better - be smoother and have better access.

I ran a google ad campaign and it did well in getting the awareness to the website which is what i wanted - and same with facebook and again i was getting good numbers coming to the site.

Now I'm not saying i should be rolling in the cash already but with the number's we're getting the orders arent being translated over. zero.

I offer 30 day returns policy, i have our address details and a little about us page to let the people know this isnt some scam site.

I've signed up to trust pilot but that really only works once you get orders in!.

is there anything else i can do to improve? any other feedback would be appriciated too.

You need to set up Google Analytics and set up a conversion funnel to see where your visitors are dropping off; home page/landing pages, category pages, product pages, cart/checkout process.

I've signed up to analytics

the conversion flow shows that half drop off from the landing page. from those that remain it slowly drops off at around 2%

people are spending time looking around at the items and going back and forth to different catagories

We have three modestwear clients, I didn’t realise it was so lucrative!
As Jammy says look at your analytics, but for your sector I’d expect 2 /3 orders per 100 visitors.
Try free delivery for a week and then paid delivery with no other changes to be a fair comparison.
I’ll have a look once I’m on a desktop.

Aab is a client, we have two other in progress projects I can’t divulge just yet.

Your site has a lot of hard to read text - look at AAB for inspiration.

Logo is hard to read also.

yeah there's still some tweaking that i need to do yet - the logo is one.

aab site is really good - nice and crisp. i think they do alot of their own photoshoots for the stuff. i do have plans for quite a few things but those are 2 year plan things.

modest wear is HUGE business - you only have to see on insta with the amount of "influencers" going for that market.

we've sourced modest wear for men so that'll be on there soon too.

Just had a quick look at your site, some quick things that I noticed:

• Contact details show your name, not the business name. Plus contact form is really small
• Your sidebar shows blog related widgets, should really be showing ecommerce ones
• Try getting a contact number other than a mobile number, use something like voipfone.
• Your terms and conditions don't cover anything for ecommerce, create a page for payment, delivery and returns.

Little things like this can impact conversion rates.

Are you still on eBay? It's not cheap as a sales outlet but you get a lot of virtual footfall.
Run it in parallel and subtly nudge buyers towards your direct sales website.

There are LOADS of little things that would turn me off buying your product if I were to be in the market for it. A few initial random thoughts in no particular order (desktop site):

1. I really don't like the design. I don't know much about your product (in fact, I know nothing!), however there appear to be a heck of a lot of colors everywhere...why is your site all gray?
2. Mobile phone number - no good. Get a landline, even if it's a google voice or whatever
3. I don't like the logo
4. The home page looks poor. The 2/3 banners don't work properly
5. The dark gray bar at the bottom of the page, the social media links are covered by the "privacy and cookies policy"
6. The address at the bottom doesn't need such wide line spacing
7. Get rid of your name off the bottom and put the business name on the bottom
8. The Cookies Policy link isn't a link
9. If I was buying this stuff, I have no idea what "unstitched" means. I can probably guess, but explain it somewhere! In fact, the price of unstitched looks the same as ready made, so what is the difference?!
10. I don't think bric-a-brac has a couple of "k"s in it!
11. The photo of your shop doesn't look good. It looks like it's in some dodgy street in the 80s. Either have it photoshopped to look better or just get rid of it.
12. Your blog links are no good. Make sure you revise the permalinks
13. Fill the blog with at least one page 1 of posts
14. Don't have the blog posts in 'Uncategorised'
15. Don't talk about the "slow decline of retail trade". Reword
16. The bottom of the home page is a huge sea of gray with nothing in it - what's that for?
17. Confusion between Imran Stores and Kapra Couture?
18. Get rid of the 'Recent Comments' from the right hand side product page
19. Get rid of the PayPal Buy Now Button on product page
20. Prioritise Stripe over PayPal (but still have PP on payment page)
21. Your items say 1 in stock. Are they all unique pieces?
22. Your shipping is expensive - £15 for a £25 item?
23. On order page your privacy policy links to the terms and conditions
24. Some of your items out of stock - either offer the ability to order for when it comes back into stock, be notified when it comes back into stock, remove from site or mark as out of stock on the category pages as it's not super super fast
25. No filtering - surely this stuff is prime filter-able products?
26. No reviews anywhere. Understandable, but turn this off so it doesn't display (or do what everyone else seems to do and make them up) - Can you leverage some of your 5* ebay reviews by copying and pasting?
27. The social links at the bottom of the page that say "follow" don't actually follow you - it just takes you to the social media page. Get rid of the "Follow" bit and instead line the icons up next to each other

It looks to me like you've created a WordPress site and are kinda at the stage of "the last 20% takes 80% of the time".

I can see what you're trying to do, but I think you're still quite some way away from a "proper" site.

Anyway, this is all just my opinion. Some say it's worth what you paid wink

Thank you for the feedback.

the contact page is the next one to be changed. I added the our story page yesterday - next time i have a day off i'll be changing that around.

tbh i used an online t&c creator for it and there was something about it there. i'll have another look at this too.

Yeah still on ebay. Dont want to go cold turkey online wise. I was looking at ways to see if i could push people towards the website too. maybe a watermark on the images i take?

1. I really don't like the design. I don't know much about your product (in fact, I know nothing!), however there appear to be a heck of a lot of colors everywhere...why is your site all gray?

Asian ladies clothing tends to be colourful - the images are supplied by the manufacterer so as such they make them as colourful as possible. with that in mind i went for a grey/white site

2. Mobile phone number - no good. Get a landline, even if it's a google voice or whatever

Will do

4. The home page looks poor. The 2/3 banners don't work properly

which one doesnt work?

5. The dark gray bar at the bottom of the page, the social media links are covered by the "privacy and cookies policy"

i checked this on my pc and my phone both seem to be ok?

6. The address at the bottom doesn't need such wide line spacing

Will do

7. Get rid of your name off the bottom and put the business name on the bottom

will do

8. The Cookies Policy link isn't a link

I'll link it up tonight

9. If I was buying this stuff, I have no idea what "unstitched" means. I can probably guess, but explain it somewhere! In fact, the price of unstitched looks the same as ready made, so what is the difference?!

Unstitched means you get it sewn yourself. Now to any Joe that should mean that it should be cheaper but the quality of unstitched tends to be better and it means a tailored fit for you.

10. I don't think bric-a-brac has a couple of "k"s in it!

i did have a think about that when i was writing it.

11. The photo of your shop doesn't look good. It looks like it's in some dodgy street in the 80s. Either have it photoshopped to look better or just get rid of it.

will do

12. Your blog links are no good. Make sure you revise the permalinks
13. Fill the blog with at least one page 1 of posts
14. Don't have the blog posts in 'Uncategorised'

The blog section itself will go as it picks up. its meant to be good for google early on.

15. Don't talk about the "slow decline of retail trade". Reword

ok

16. The bottom of the home page is a huge sea of gray with nothing in it - what's that for?

strange that wasnt there when i changed that section

17. Confusion between Imran Stores and Kapra Couture?

Our retail shop is called imran stores - kapra couture is the online

18. Get rid of the 'Recent Comments' from the right hand side product page

done

19. Get rid of the PayPal Buy Now Button on product page

ok

21. Your items say 1 in stock. Are they all unique pieces?

Most of them yes - some of the ready made stock comes with multiple

22. Your shipping is expensive - £15 for a £25 item?

£15 is the international price - its showing £4.50

24. Some of your items out of stock - either offer the ability to order for when it comes back into stock, be notified when it comes back into stock, remove from site or mark as out of stock on the category pages as it's not super super fast
25. No filtering - surely this stuff is prime filter-able products?

I will be adding filtering at a later date i just dont have enough stock on there just yet.

26. No reviews anywhere. Understandable, but turn this off so it doesn't display (or do what everyone else seems to do and make them up) - Can you leverage some of your 5* ebay reviews by copying and pasting?

yeah thats why i've made this thread i think the lack of reviews both on google and trust pilot needs to be improved.

It looks to me like you've created a WordPress site and are kinda at the stage of "the last 20% takes 80% of the time".

thats exactly it. I've got the site somewhere near where it needs to be and now its just detail work. i know this site does need improvements but i work full time as a trucker and then get on this when i finish

Thanks Dave! Mr Mullah - feel free to chuck a few quid in a charity tin!

1. I’m the first to admit that I am not a good designer. I just thought a bit of a missed opportunity to tie something in.

4. There were 3? Huge banners? I’ve just gone out to meet someone. Will screenshot when I get back.

5. Again, screenshot to follow. I mean in the v dark bar.

9. Understood - hence why making it obvious!

Blog. Sure - I get this will grow, but you need it to not look empty to inspire confidence in the site. By having the ‘more’ link, it’ll look like you’ve got more content and inspire more confidence.

17. In that case, I probably would reframe the ‘our story’ into more how kapra couture evolved from imran rather than having the imran stores shop

21. If these are one-off pieces, isn’t £25 super cheap? (Again, apologies if I’m showing my ignorance in your market!)

22. Your site picked up the fact I was in the US. I didn’t spot the international bit. My bad

24. I don’t agree, but understand! With 5+ pages of stock, to someone who doesn’t know much about it, a simple filter would be helpful.

Anyway, good luck! It’s a lot of hard work to polish a site. It really requires a certain level of persistence.

I fixed the gray - i had a picture there before and it didnt resize itself back.

they're "one off" for what we have in stock. basically the stuff comes from Pakistan/india - the manufacturers make loads of "sets" of say 12 designs and then release it as a whole for shop owners to sell. so whilst its a one off piece other stores may have the same thing.

thanks i'm working on it slowly but surely. i have a vision of where i want to be but i know i cant do that over night without hiring a pro.

maybe once we do get busy i'll get that pro lol

IMO it doesn't look enough like a professional online shop - a lot of good shops have a certain look - yours looks a bit plain - it doesn't instill confidence.

I understand! It's not easy to do. I don't want it to look like some sort of circle-jerk, but you could do a lot worse than working with Dave!
