Hi

I will be attending the 2020 Le Mans 24 Hours . It will be my first time . I really want to listen to the radio lemans commentary but not sure what sort of radio i need. Would a normal little pocket radio be okay?. Also is the frequency usually FM?. Thanks.

Any small FM radio will work, I use ear protectors with a built in FM radio myself.

usually 91.2fm

pick it up as you arrive in Le Mans area

best are radio ear defenders as said above. not expensive and well worth the investment, but any fm radio (stored on my car radio on a favorites button)

I have a little radio with earphones. I'd like the ear defenders but I don't want to block out the sound of the cars, plus bringing a big group this year so can't be too anti social

I find the ear defenders useful trackside, they certainly don't cut out the sound of the cars!
When with a group I either just use one side of them or they just shout at me!
But, once not trackside I use a traditional FM radio and have good plug in speaker for it when at camp, and being less than 100M from the track it needs to be loud!

I do like the idea of the defenders, my stepson brought his but then didn't speak through most of the race - he just got completely into it. When i have a quiet year I guess.

I also have a standard FM at the campsite, a little portable

I love the ear defender radios.

Careful not to go too budget as the quality can be bad and they won’t last. We bought a budget pair for a couple of people we thought would be their only trip to the race and they broke before the end of the race.

Bought a pair of peltors and they have lasted many years now.

I find the reduction in noise quite nice if you’re track side for quite a few hours. I splashed out (2nd hand eBay) on the active hearing peltors for myself so I can turn up or down the ambient noise when the mood suits. Allows for normal conversations but cuts out the really load noises at the same time.

I got sick of pocket radio and ear defender combo every time I stood up pulling the earbuds out.

I’d be lost without them on trips now.
