Hello fellow PHers.

An annoying fault has just appeared on my 2000 C4. Went for a drive this morning, got home
and locked the car with the fob. Went back after a while to have a play with the radio and it wouldn't unlock with the fob. Unlocked it with the key and the alarm went off. Eventually it turned off with the key in the ignition and the engine running.
Now the passenger door won't open from inside or outside, the dash button for the central locking is permanently on. There's no interior lights on and the fuel filler flap is locked. There is no response at all when the fob is used. I have only recently got the car so I'm new to all this.
Anyone had something similar happen?

It could be the battery in the key fob needs changing, if I don't use mine for a week or so I have to use the key to unlock- the alarm will go off unless you turn on the ignition within a few seconds so that's normal. Is the red led light on the console? (key picture)- try pressing it when the car is running. The fuel filler cap is also activated with the central locking so that should sync too.

The first thing to check is that the alarm control module under the passenger seat is dry. Water ingress settles to the lowest point of the floor pan, right where the ACU is located.

On the ACU there is a small blade fuse (between the two plug connectors). The fuse is for the central locking, so worth checking.

Other than that, you are best getting a diagnostic check done, by someone with a Porsche tester.
