Hey guys,
Being a JDM VTEC Honda boy, I know nothing about VW. My girlfriend has a 2010 Beetle (the facelift one with the 'nice' clear lights on).
So, her passenger (NS) dipped bulb went. Not an issue - at least I thought not. After around 2 hours of messing around, shredding fingers, cracking parts off, wrenching my back and colourful language, it's beaten me.
I managed to get the little pin thing turned to release the light, and then spent the next hour and 45 trying to get the light out, and it budged a bit, knocked the full beam bulb out and wouldn't move any more. Not only that, but when I pushed the light back in, the turny pin thing had disappeared, it's just not come back through. So I'm sat with the headlight housing back in but not secure, the releasing pin at the bottom has disappeared into oblivion, an angry girlfriend, and an appointment at the chiropractor.
So, I was just wondering if anyone has come across this issue before, and how they went about fixing it?
Alternatively, if we're looking at getting it booked in somewhere, how much-ish have people paid to have it done before?
Much appreciated,
Dan

PS. Are flowers or chocolate best to tame my girlfriend?

They are a right royal pita. All you can is try and pull the headlight out completely to sort out the button, then clean everything and lube it with white grease, before putting it back together. Good luck finding someone to sort it as Halfords refuse to touch them !

Thank you for replying mate. I'm just about to take the battery out, as that's getting in the way massively. Hopefully after which it should be able to come out.

Hopefully the pin/button has just come out of place and not broken. They are a horrible design though and they cut your finger tips to pieces pulling them out.

Thankfully, I think it's not broken, as I can feel the pin still in there, just dislodged from its hole. Definitely a battery out job. Kettle is on now and I'm ready for the finger shredding!

Don't forget to leave it all cleaned and lubed ready for the next poor bugger laugh

Thankfully it's all sorted now. The little pin had slipped out of its hole, put it back in when I put the light back in, and it slipped out again. However, the bulb is changed now, so I'm getting it out of sight and out of mind!
Thanks for the advice mate, nice one. Take care.
