Mk 2 jag wire wheels

I’m having some work done on my Mk 2 and have decided to change the wheels and tyres. It is fitted with tuned tyres at the moment.
Does anyone have any thoughts or advice about what to replace them with ?

Curly hubs are correct for a Mkll but what are tuned tyres?

Have a look on SC Parts website. The back of the hub should be rounded, not flat sided and conical. Hard to describe but if you can't see what I mean on images for 'Jaguar wheels' then PM me and I'll talk you through it.

Tubed tyres at a guess.

Chrome or painted wires can be a bit of a maintenance problem now. Search for a set of 1 inch offset Borrani wires on jag knock on hubs. They look good and give you a choice of modern tyres . If you are still on RS5's it will feel like a different car, especially in the wet. Koni's all round set hard and you're ready to go. Do however check those front sub frame mounts and the steering coupling just below the master cylinder. If either are past their best the car will wander all over the place and produce a clonking noise after heavy braking. The mounts above the rear quarter elliptics can rust and fail so give these a good look .

Speaking from experience - Borrani wires are a nightmare to keep clean and shiny, not to mention the cost. I'd go for painted wires - don't see much of a maintenance problem with them.

If you want to see what the correct hubs should look like then look on the Gilbern 1800 GT thread. Paint is best finish IMHO, silver goes with any body colour, cream or BRG go with BRG etc etc.

Which may or may not be a good thing.
When I switched from cross plies to radials it significantly changed the whole character of the car and I found it less interesting to drive.
