Dear All,

I purchased my Cayman in the summer, fresh oil, filters etc, enjoying ownership.... however, last month whilst driving home in poor light i duly turned on the front light switch and to my shock i soon realised an issue. No lights, well very little.

The positives: Indicators, side lights and fogs all work as they should, including rear lights. However the main bulb section - nothing. The stalk that operates the main beam when pushed forward shows no output and nothing on dash. But when pulled back (flash on/off) the main beam flashes and also the blue symbol on the dash illuminates then goes out.

I have changed the bulbs, checked the fuses, but still unsure if there is an actual fuse or relay that operates the lights, so would not know if one isn't working correctly.

So, i've read up for the past month and no real answer, possible change of internal switch? any advice as at the moment shes only a daytime driver!!!!

Kindest regards and many thanks to those who reply....

Rich

What year of car do you have ? Also assuming you do not have xenon headlights.

I'll watch this with interest, as the other night the very same scenario came about on my 2010 Kangoo van!

I had this happen on a 986 with litronics and it was the light switch.

Yeah, I don't think it's uncommon for the light switch to go on the fritz.

That lightswtich is much more cheaply bought if you get it by looking for one for a MK5 Golf (I think it's a mark 5). You'll get one for around a tenner on eBay.

Fairly sure this is the same part

Try your OPC as many assume they are the dearest ,several main known suppliers buy the parts direct and add a mark up .The golf route is a good shout heard that about many Porsche parts bin stuff .
