My son is in school education in the UK and is trying to get free O365 eduction software.

He has put his school email address into the O365 eligibility checker on the O365 website and that says he's eligible. It then says it's sent a verification email, however his school .com email is set not to accept external emails. So - he never gets the email.

Sounds like a question for the school IT admins but before we try and find the right contact to ask does anyone know how accurate the O365 eligibility checker is ? - all I know is it tells me my iCloud email is not valid, but do I put too much faith in the fact it says his school address is ok?

If the checker is good but the school can't / won't open up his email to internet email does anyone know if there are other ways to validate an account ?

Thanks

Not the education version but I had a similar problem verifying a reinstall of office onto one of my laptops.
I couldn’t get the email verification to work so I was given the option of a phone number. 0800 number and it was automated but did sort the issue out.
Sorry, I don’t have the number anymore, so not much use!

It will only work when sending to a domain that has been validated as an educational establishment with Microsoft (as they get free/discounted licences) Unfortunately, unless you know of someone else that has an account that's been validated, you're stuck.

I assume this is primary? I work with schools, and none of the primary schools allow pupils to have accounts that send/receive externally for safeguarding reasons. They may be willing to just allow emails from Microsoft.com, for example, to get access, but it depends whether they're interested in changing policies and getting their ICT bods to setup custom access levels just for that purpose...

Thanks for the insights. I’ll ask the school if there is any way round the blocked email but from what you’ve said it sounds like Microsoft entitlement is valid against the pupils school domain.

Not sure if this helps but I get the discounted partnership one through work and it let me use my work email address to prove the partnership but my hotmail account for the verification email?
