Ford Courier Diesel 1996, removing Sump
Discussion
Afternoon. Last night managed to put a rock through our sump. Need the van for the weekend for the farm meat delivery!
Pushed her over the pit this morning and removed every bolt I can find on the sump cover, and it won't budge. It will wiggle slightly. Presumably there's a bolt of stud left somewhere that for the life of me I cannot find - but can it actually be removed with the engine in situate?
I google any engine diagrams for her, Diesel 1.6 or 1.8 presumably.
Any help!
Thanks, James

Sumps are generally held on with many small bolts that just go straight into the engine casing from underneath, have a good look to see if one is lurking behind a cross-member or something, aside of that it could just be held on with the gasket, try giving it some gentle taps in all directions with a wooden/rubber mallet, if it starts to move more you are on the right track..
thanks, yes expecting it to just drop down but this is being a real bugger. It will wiggle marginally (and oil starts coming out of the gearbox between the gap. Checked and re-checked for any hiding bolts. Tamped all afternoon and now using a leaver to see if its just gasket glue holding. Its a Ford Endura-D engine. But its really stuck on if its glue, feels like there's something else holding it...
