Tamora Dash/Pod
Discussion
Hi Guys
I am having a few problems with the whole dash pod on my newly acquired Tamora:
LCD scrambled completely and illegible
Rev counter not getting past 1
Speedo buzzing and fluctuating even when stationary
Whilst I've done my research and taken the pod out I don't want to go to the expense of an LCD repair until I'm sure that's the problem. Given the LCD, Rev Counter, and speedo are all playing up I am assuming there must be a fault common to all three. Does the Dash ECU drive all three and does it use a common earth?
Open to any suggestions, thanks

The lcd missing rows is not uncommon I’d try a cable for ease first, And check the cable connections.
The rev counter could be due to your swap, is it reading about half what it should. That’s programmed from the dash ECUs and can be amended ( paulxxxx. does them, can’t recall his surname
The speedo runs off the diff. If that’s erratic, could be spaced too far from the pickup
Oil pressure alarm, you need to add a speed 6 oil pressure sender to drive the dash via the dash ECUs. That too may need a software tweak to work as it Also feeds the now absent engine ECU. That should delete the low oil pressure alarm
Temp, your ls ECUs uses a temp sender, but you also need a speed 6 one fitted to run the dash.
Check through the dash fault codes, that’ll help decipher if any other errors are present.
Hope that helps.

Exciting times Ian - and at last someone who buys one already done rather than buying a standard car and converting it.
May all your problems be little ones and easily solved
You might try a call to Jodie at Python Racing down in Essex - 01206 820044 - he does a lovely job of fixing Chim/Griff electronics and certainly has a workshop, I simply don't know anything his skills in this area. It does sound to me like it's the conversion that is causing the issues, but what do i know?

Dash and Pod problems in a T-Car...You should talk to Paul Smith from http://pselectronicsolutions.co.uk/
Could be something as simple as a loose or damaged ribbon cable at either end of the clock pack or ECU in the footwell. A poor main earth will cause gremlins too.
Paul Smith is very knowledgeable on repairing all things electric for TVR as is Jody at Python Racing who fixed my door ECU last year.
