Looks like there has been some movement on a F1 race at Miami. Its not going to be a street race but around the NFL stadium

zero elevation change then?!...

..Could have thrown in some of those high-speed banked indy500 style corners

They could use the banking of the seating smile

Seriously though, that's a great Formula E circuit.

There was a protest against this race at the weekend.

Attending was the current AND previous Dade County Commissioner (the person that approves the race..) and the Mayor.

Does not look promising tbh.

Are they not being offered enough money to say it's a wonderful idea?

Probably. The Gardens area of Miami is a bit of a sh*t hole so I doubt many locals are bothered if anything it will give them more stuff to steal and people to rob.

While I would prefer the previously proposed location, I don’t care - bring F1 to Miami!!!!

Isn't that layout out of date now?

Shame if so, I quite like the mix of very fast sections and very tight corners - could have produced some unexpected results.

Also liked the fact the two straights are side by side, would be good for camera angles showing the closing speed on each side of divide! I think getting the braking right into the switchback turn between the two straights would have been one of the key, probably to become infamous, challenges.

As I understand it, it's now been re-hashed and this is the current plan, rather less inspiring..

Bored. Just let it go. America doesn't need two F1 races, especially one in Miami.

If you're going to have another F1 race in America, put it somewhere where it would make a difference like Detroit.

Imagine... And there is still so much worthless space around the modern city that could be re-purposed in to a dedicated circuit.

There are certain political reasons for Miami though, and the money is (supposedly) there, it's glamorous (kinda..) so I guess it's an easy, if uninspiring choice.

If it ever happens, which it may very well not do.
