I need an employment lawyer, but am baffled how to pick a good one. Has anyone experience or advice in this sort of thing?

Personal recommendation would be better though.

The firms recommended by the Legal 500 will typically be corporate firms i.e. expensive.

I've been offered a settlement agreement and need a lawyer to go through the facts of the matter and check I'm not being short changed.
Where abouts in the UK are you?

If in London/SouthEast then I can recommend Thomas Mansfield who acted on my behalf in the same situation (negotiation of a compromise agreement), albeit 11 years ago.

I've used Jon Heuvel, (now a Partner at Shakespeare Martineau - ex Penningtons) in the past. He was excellent - he gave very sensible pragmatic advice.
