Hi,

Been offered a mint condition Honda MSX125 for a good price. Only thing is it’s only done 150 miles in 2 and a half years, and not had its first service. The handbook clearly states it’s a 600 mile service, or serviced within a year of ownership.

What would PH do?

Cheers

Buy it. Service it.

How much is it?

I probably wouldn't be able to resist riding it straight round to my mate who has one!

Use the same money to buy a litre+ sportsbike?

Its out of warranty any way, its the most simple air cooled engine you can find, All Honda do is drop the oil and replace the sump plug. Go get it and self service ( for around £14)

Get whoever's selling it to service it first?

Haha! I’ve just sold the XR... This is part replacement.

I think I’ll get it for £2100 and am happy enough servicing it myself.
I’ll update as and when.

Cheers!

Is it one of the newer ones, with the futuristic headlight assembly?

What colour is it? The green ones go faster.

Make sure to put some fruity can on it and a tail tidy, for starters.

New one with tail tidy, crash bungs & adjustable levers fitted. Graphite grey colour. I plan on putting a new shock on it, as well as the chain mod.

Change the chain every year, it's as stretchy as Jeremy Corbyn's policies. The adjusters soon run out. All cheap to replace though.

I would be more concerned that the bike could still be finance ! HPI it and then change the oil yourself .

If you buy it, you can do as someone I see frequently on my commute does: 2 up, with a large roll bag behind the pillion. The whole outfit is about 3ft long. Looks comical.

Drop me a PM if and when you're after a shock and I'll look after you smile
