Help needed, wipers knackered !

:rage:Wipers wont work, but wash/wipe does ! tried exchanging both rippon cables,steering wheel control ECU and checked button works ( all thanks to Craig) but still the buggers refuse to work, any idea,s

Yup.

It's a plastic plug in switch mounted on the rear (bulkhead side) of your wiper motor.

1.Remove scuttle cover panel to expose wiper motor
2. Get small hand in behind wiper motor and disconnect the wires to the plug.
3. Remove plug with help of friendly gynaecologist
4. Replacement is the reversal of the above

5. Alternatively remove wiper motor and have less swearing and cursing. However this is a 2 hour(ish) job.

Try TVR Car Parts 01884 266755 - They've got the wiper park switch in stock, or can get it fairly quick.

Call mini spares and ask for a mini wiper motor park switch, about £9 IIRC. If it is this I cant understand how thw wash/wipe is working though.

It's a clip in/push fit. Which sounds easy, but there's no room for manoeuvre in the space between motor and bulkhead - hence the small hand mention earlier.

That is the puzzle, would the wash/wipe still work if the park sensor is shagged !

Mine was doing this, had to press the wash/wipe all the time to get them to work. Basically caused by a build up of muck on the connector. Just removing, cleaning and losing skin from me knuckles cured the problem completely.

There are a number of connections going to the motor, one of which is the +12V feed to the motor park switch. This switch is normmaly open when the wipers are parked. When you press the wash/wipe you temporarily feed power to the motor side of the switch, this starts the motor which in turn closes the switch. Once the wipers go back to their park position the switch opens and stops the motor. Hence I think your park switch is basically OK.

Just try wiggling the connector on the motor and see if this improves things.

have u tried checking for power at the motor with them switched on?
if no power try taking the 6 bolts out of the s,wheel maybe the wire is traped between it and the boss,a comon fault on s,wheel switch functions im told!

I had the exact same problem fixed yesterday:

In my case it was the connection in the steering wheel. There is a tiny PCB with 4 sets of pins on, one pair for each button, within the steering wheel boss. By removing the wheel and the black rubber ring behind it, we found a connector out of place. Once plugged back in all was OK. It is a rediculously fiddly job, putting it all back together without trapping the wires from the wheel between the wheel and the boss, and getting the rubber cover back on without knocking the connectors off again is a tricky game. It helps if you price the badge out of the middle of the boss.
