Any onedrive experts..
Discussion
Hi all
I've used onedrive a few years now as have a 365 subscription and it all works well. However today had a random one I'm stuck with.
I use a PC with ssd hard drive for just the os and a separate 1tb hdd for storage.
Decided to upload some files from my hdd to one drive (photos and vids of kids parties etc) to back them up, approx 40gb.
It's just finished after a good few hours but my c drive is now showing full. I'm assuming its put the 40gb somewhere on there but not sure why or how it's done this.
I've cleared the clipboard and reset the PC but it's still showing full. The files have transferred to one drive and can see them on all devices.
Have I missed a setting here somewhere?

Onedrive has 3 settings.
1) Keep everything on the cloud, and only keep a shortcut to the files on your local machine
2) Keep everything on the cloud. and keep syncing to your local machine for offline use
3) Keep everything on your local machine, and keep syncing to the cloud for online use on another machine
If the icon next to the filename is a cloud then it's #1
If the icon is a green tick in a white circle then it's #2
If the icon is a white tick in a green circle then it's #3
You should be able to do the change globally via the app, or you can do it at a folder/file level by right-clicking on the folder/file and selecting/deselecting the 'always keep on this device'.
I think!

Is it not the case that you've copied the files off your HDD up to the cloud & these have then been synced down to the Onedrive folder on your C drive?
It sounds as if you need to move the Onedrive directory location of the C drive SD onto your HDD (or change the option to not sync your local PC):

Appreciate the response
I found the settings to choose which folders should be available off line and un ticked a few, had a mild panic as I thought i'd deleted everything from the last 5 years as the "one drive" logo in my windows explorer was then empty, I always assumed this was the "web version" shortcut but is obviously the local drive shortcut!
