On the way to get my Griff serviced :rolleyes: (we won't say too much about that) this morning, some :censored: lorry came round the corner dropping a load of :censored: from the back of it, gravel I think.
A piece of stone hit my windscreen and now it has a circular crack in it. I asked the mechanic at the garage if it was a MOT failure, so he got his little gizmo out and it wasn't. I still have this crack where I didn't have one before though :mad:
I've read somewhere that it's a disaster to change the windscreen, so not keen on that option. Is it right you can get them repaired with resin, and has anybody got any experience of that?
Meant to be test driving the saggy today as well, that never happened. :mad:

No can do, it's 60 miles away and I have no transport now.
They'll probably be phoning me up soon because I've asked them to track down an intermittent cutting out problem. If the phone rings, I'm hiding my credit cards. 
I'll ask them to cover it when they phone. What's the saying? No news is bad news. 
Just got this done on G-Friends volvo at the weekend. Cost £35 for the entire job. Waited only 20-30 mins.
They can sort out chips that are 2 years old however Wethering of the chip can cause residual refraction in the repair. His advice was to cover with a piece of tape if you plan to drive round for any period of time with the chip.
We've now had this done on 2 cars, one of which was done 7 years ago and is still fine. Best £35 pound spent, especially as windscreen repairs can be a real pain, even if they manage not to cut the leather at the back of the dash getting the old windscreen out!

Reading that, it seems as though I'll get it done free by my insurance company. I'll have to give them a ring though to ask a couple of questions, like, "will I lose my NCD? as it's not protected." "If I change my insurance company in the future, eg: if I apply online, will it classify as making a claim within the last five years?"
Anybody got any ideas as to how much it would cost without going through the insurance?
