As per the title. Just come off the phone with my dad who has just purchased a new PC, he has a few thousand photos on his iPhone he wants to back up to the computer. He has tried using the Windows Photo app on the computer but finds it crashes each time he tries the sync. It gets to about 1900 images then crashes and wont go any further. He has uninstalled and reinstalled it but no joy. Any ideas? Is it worth getting a better app? Any recommendations?

I'm not an Apple user, but surely you can backup all the photos to Apple Cloud?

I'm an Android user we just use Google Photos, he could used that to be honest and then view them all on photos.google.com

I also use Google Photos (Drive etc) but he is a retired guy and still not wanting to use cloud to download stuff (yes its better, safer, etc.) but some older people can be stubborn when it comes to technology. He is wanting to sync it to his hard drive he has on his computer.

Install dropbox on phone and computer link the two together
Then you can upload all photos from phone to computer no problem, anytime time new photos are taken all you need to do is open the dropbox app on the phone and the phone will auto upload to the pc

Or

Install google photos and the same will apply as above

Or

Install "photo transfer" by bitwise from app store, this is more of manual upload handy if you want exclude some images

If he has a google account check the photos application when logged into google on the pc, mine upload to google images and i have no idea why lol i dont have google images app on my phone but they still upload

BUT i will say 1900 images is a huge upload and it could take some time A LONG TIME !! , he would be better installing ITUNES on PC and the getting the images across that way

This. Just tell him they're on his computer. They'll live safely on iCloud and he will be able to see them.
