CTEK charger being strange

I have a CTEK MXS 5.0 with a cigarette adapter (the one with LED indicator green/orange/red) plugged into 2003 C2.
On the charger unit, it's sitting at 8 (pulse charging) - so it seems OK on that end. Car is locked. I can see inside the actual comfort indicator is flashing red though. Why could that be ?
