Bibles to be scrapped as 'offensive'
Discussion
Yet another case of someone thinking that someone else might be offended when no one has actually complained.
Its a book, if someone does not want to read it then they dont read it. In the same way that if I end up in hospital and there is a copy of the Koran I wont be compelled to read it
or the bible for that matter although I do like a bit of fiction

I think all religion should be scrapped as offensive.
I'm not religious either, but if someone wants to leave bibles in hosptals, good luck to them. I don't have to read them.
What I object to is the fact that they *thought* they should remove them - presumably because Leicester has a high Muslim population and they didn't want to get into hot water - then cook up a half-excuse when they realised they looked stupid. Even the Head Muslim wasn't bothered about the bibles. It's this desperation not to cause 'offence' when no one is offended that bugs me.
Question is, if they stuck a Qur'an in there alongside with (or as a replacement for - God forbid
) the bible, would there be complaints from the zealots about the tarnishing of the country's religious heritage?
Quite frankly I'd love to have all these books there. I find the Watchtower and LDS bibles that I sometimes discover in hotel room drawers can be quite interesting. Bring on the teachings of Buddha and wacko books on neo-Zen religions while we're at it too!
But yes, bibles there as offense is just stupid. Maybe we should raze all the churches in this country to the ground because they too could cause offence.

You only had to listen to the loony beaurocrat on the radio this morning to know where all the NHS money is pi**ed away. She talked about taking a "whole systems approach" to this and the Service Equality Team were meeting to discuss it. The best way to ensure equality of provison of religious material is to burn the bloody lot! It's actually not even an NHS matter, the bibles are left there gratis, for God's sake (literally).
Have they REALLY not got better things to sit around in meeting rooms to discuss?

Well I’m one of those people who actually place Gideon Bibles in hospital bedside lockers (paid for by myself and other supporters) and I can tell you this much, that for every one letter we receive complaining about them we receive thousands saying “thank you”. When people are in hospital they (and their relatives) are often very worried about their circumstances and reading the Bible often brings a sense of peace and hope.
Whether the story from Leicester is true or not, this type of “political correctness” is becoming more prevalent every year. Quite frankly, if the authorities pandered to every “hypothetical offence” then what else will be banned? Cars (for absolute sure), meat, any form of discipline, etc., etc..!

Im surprised that you have received any complaints.
Well I never have, but I have to assume that over the years someone has! For me to state there's never been a single complaint would be inviting a contradiction from someone!
