I'm quite confident I'm about to order the correct tyres from Black Circles. Like really confident. Unfortunately the voices in my head keep telling me to check with the Lads first. Even though I really don't need to I'm going to do it. Check with you guys that is smile

So, following my front blow out last month I've decided to go with the Continental Sport Contact 6 all round. (I've been away just over three weeks so back home last night and now ordering)

For the fronts: Continental Sport Contact 6 - 245/40 R19 Y (98)

The rears: Continental Sport Contact 6 - 285/35 R19 Y (103)

(MY07 Vantage 19" wheels)

These are the same sizes as the Eagle F1's currently on the old girl...........

Cheers fellas,
Richard

Richard

I haven't checked mine but the sizing and profile is correct and the speed and load rating sound correct

Richard

I just went and checked the manual

Front 235/40 ZR 19(92Y)
Rear 275/35 ZR 19 (96Y)

Sport Option
Front 245/40 ZR 19 (98Y) XL
Rear 285/35 ZR 19 (103Y) XL

I wanted to be sure on the load and speed ratings

So I think you are ok with what you are proposing

Just out of curiosity, why Contis and not the classic Michelin Pilot Sport 4S that everybody is going for here?

probably because Michelin doesn't offer the 245/40 19 in Europe?

The manual actually suggests also 235/40R19, you can easily find the 4S in this size.

But what is this deal of the wider size not available on the SportPack wheels?

Hmm I had this all written down but I've binned it... As I recall you can get the rears in the Pilot Sport 4S but not the fronts, they only come in the Pilot Sport 4 not the 4S. I have no idea what the difference between the 4 and 4S is.... The Conti's do have good reviews, are apparently pretty good in the wet, but some have reported a quicker wear rate than other tyres... and some haven't... There's a recent thread where it's said (think it was Rich) that you can get the front sized 4S in the States, just not yet available in the UK.. My front nearside recently exploded due to an unplanned event so I'm currently Sans Aston frown

I read a report where a BMW driver mixed PS4 front with PS4s rear due to momentary unavailability
- he reported dreadful understeer (wich was gone after he replaced the fronts with PS4s).
So mixing PS4s with PS4 seems a bad idea indeed.

I'ts a real pity with the PS4s unavailability 245/40 19 size in Europe - the PS4s is a marvellous tire.
Hard to understand the Michelin policy here.
What's even weirder is that my European delivery rear PS4s 275/35 19 tires are made in USA -WTF??
