Hi.
does anyone recognise the black 997.1 gt3 at OPC Bristol.
I'm going to view it tomorrow and thought someone might recognise it.
Feels like a big step ( financially ) from my 997 C4S.

Don’t know the car, but make sure they take you on the ‘thornbury’ test route otherwise you will just be going up and down the dual carriageway outside the showroom.

I went from C4S to GT3, big step up in many ways! Not comparable, and why I laugh at 997 GTS prices.

Is that a real club sport?

Looks like a converted car to me, colour doesn’t sit right, what’s going on with the painted rad cage?

I think it's a comfort with a few club sport options ticked. Otherwise it would have sold long ago.

It can't be too heavily modified or the OPC wouldn't be able to offer the warranty.

How did the viewing go, OP?

If you can snap a picture of the option codes in the service manual, if it's a factory Clubsport, you want to see codes like this:

C16 - UK Car
XSJ - 6-point harness
XSM - Racing safety cage with crossbars (suitable for 6-point harness)
003 - Clubsport package
384 - Carrera GT bucket seat, left
385 - Carrera GT bucket seat, right

Looks correct to me, normally the door cards are the give away, but those are the correct ones for those seats. I would suggest cage has been painted, buts that's about it imo

Looks like it might be my old car. I sold it in 2012 when it had about 25k miles. It was a good car back then but I have no idea of it's history since!

hi.

thanks for all the comments. the front end respray was disappointing for Porsche standards. It wasnt properly finished and polished, I was disappointed.
But as luck would have it a white 997 Gt3 was being part exed that morning.
It's an 07 clubsport with 19k miles. not sure when I'm picking it up but needless to say it cant cine quick enough.

I love the shortness of this story.

Man likes look of car, asks around, goes to see car and actually buys one.

Refreshing change from endless worrying whether it’s the ultimate spec for the best price and whether it will depreciation proof.

Well done AllisterT post some photos on the happy day please.

Cheers
Ed

Hmmmmm, thanks for the praise but in all honesty theres months of viewing 991 GT3s and worrying if buying a 12 year old car is the right thing to do.
nedless to say when i sat in the 997 it was game over, the money was spent within the first click of the ignition.
Photos to follow.

This is brilliant, I love it when luck and the stars align all together at once.

Enjoy clap

Congratulations. Sometimes you just know it’s the one for you.

I bought the first GT3 I viewed and 15 months and almost 9000 miles later still happy as Larry.

I am potentially interested in the car too. Could you confirm if it was a Clubsport?

To the OP, was it just the respray that put you off?

The car interior was very clean for the milage. The front could be immaculate..... but only if the garage polish it properly.
The rads are pretty battered as are the lights and windscreen. Its got a decent amount of history and is a local car to Bristol.

Im down there picking mine up next saturday morning if anyones around.

Many thanks. Very helpful.

I'm just starting looking and do want a car with a cage and GT buckets.

Does your budget stretch to a Gen II? The Hairpin car looks lovely. If I could get a good price for my 997.1 CS, I'd upgrade!

Sorry, which is the Hairpin car?

Actually speaking to my bank today but realistically top budget is £80,000 so I couldn’t get a Clubsport .2 although do really like the look of the .2s so might consider one without cage and race seats...
