Liftbacks - Best Cheap recent saloon shaped hatchback?

Hi everyone,

I've read a loads of posts on this forum about best cars under £5K and quickest 0-60 for under £3K etc. but...
I am a little (read extremely) fussy, and really want a liftback, (saloon shaped hatchback) nothing too old (pre-2005)

So far all I can really find are; Vectra C 2.0t, Insignia 2.0t, and the Mondeo 2.5t.

What are your opinions on the best modern liftbacks and why?

Skoda Octavia VRS - would have one of those over any of the three you mention.

I'd take the Mondeo out of those suggested so far it's the best steer as well as having the best engine, either that or the 2.5 Mazda6 SL.
