Storing someones vehicle and insurance

Looking at renting a barn with a mate, it is cheap and pretty big but to keep some of the costs down it has been suggested to store other peoples cars there, I am personally not keen on it.
It is secure and there is CCTV on site, but what are the implications of it, my concern is it getting broken into and cars stolen or damage happening to a vehicle stored.
In the event of anything like that happen who would be liable for it?

You'll need building insurance that covers you as a storage unit so that in the event of flood / fire / building collapse etc you are covered, you can rent storage space and make it clear in the agreement that you are in no way responsible for theft.

99% of strage services, Shurguard, Big Yellow etc insist that every tenant has 'Storage Insurance'.

Probably more grief than it is all worth.

Would you not need planning permission?
