HPI mileage discrepancy

Just after a few thought's and suggestions on this.

Found a Porsche Cayman with my preffered spec and price (private seller), so I decided to get a HPI check done.

The only red flag was a mileage discrepancy early in the car's life which points to a fat fingered DVLA employee:





Ignoring the DVLA entry, the mileages appear normal over time.

Car was first registered: JUN 2007
First MOT: JUN 2010

1. Given that most mileage entries come from the MOT (VOSA), under what circumstances would the DLVA input the mileage themselves?

1. Would it put you off buying a performance car with this issue - from the mindset of selling on later?

I know there is no hope of the DVLA sorting this out as it's been soo long and they are generally tough on changes (even if obvious). My attention instead has turned towards why a DVLA entry was put in the first place?

Isn't there an optional box on the V5 new slip that means you can send the mileage in when you change keeper?

Wouldnt put me off if everything else backs up current mileage. The mileage is an optional "input" when the car changes keeper, so someone has got it wrong. I think this clearly stands out for what it is, fat fingers.

It wouldn't put me off based on what you have posted.

A Cayman is never going to have done 111,000 miles in 18 months! That has to be a typo.

Wouldn’t put me off on the slightest when it is clearly an error and a decade old one at that .

I agree, a mistake it may be... but at least it's an obvious one to spot.
