Hi All!

Has anyone got as far as replacing the little side lights in the later headlight pods with LEDs? If you have, do you have a fitting recommendation or did you just change the bulbs?

I'm thinking of using them as DRLs...

Thanks

Yes I have, but i need to get around to matching the colour temp of those and the existing sidelights (also LED) and then disabling the dim dip. You could of course go the whole hog and replace the headlamp units with proper integrated LED ones (you can get dip or main plus DRLs) but it is pretty expensive.

I have LEDs in both the bottle-top standalone sidelights and the little bulbs in the main beam Hella lamps. I had to change the latter as they were too high a colour temp and looked too blue and chavvy - you want 4000K or so.

The Hella main beams had a lamp holder but no bulbs in IIRC, I just took a feed from the normal side lights to power them.

Just changed the bulbs in mine to LEDs. I also wired the unused the bulb holder in the dip headlight to them and added LED in them as well.

Thanks for the replies, chaps.

So what bulb is in the bottle top fitment?

I'm not looking to convert the main lights, just to give the car a bit more presence during daylight hours. I am finding that the modern driver is unable to see a black car that's only 44 inches off the ground from their SUV armchair...

For DDLs I attached these in the bottom air vent. Switched/ relayed and work perfectly during the day.

I’m searching for something to use at night though as these too bright.
