Boeing B29 Superfortress

Thanks for posting.
On a similar note, there is a fully restored B17 in Palm Springs air Museum. It is a fantastic place to spend half a day. You also get to walk through the front door (hatch) just under the cockpit through the bomb bay over the underbelly gun turret and out the back.
The gun underbelly gun turret is held in place by a single nut, so can be jessioned quickly, if required.
Really interesting and staffed by knowledgeable volunteers. Entrance was $18, with free parking.

I bought a lot of the "Great Planes" series when they were available on VHS. They are actually an Aussie series, picked up in later years by Discovery. If you have Amazon Prime, they have quite a few aircraft documentaries. I saw “Night Bombers” a few weeks ago which covered a night raid by Lancasters. A lot more detailed than your usual documentary and it had war time footage and explanations on how raids/returns to the U.K. were carried out.

The things that kills many of those Prime 'documentaries' for me is the production standards - bad scripts badly read by the bloke next door. The covers look great but the contents can be tough to get through as a result. Anything by Robert Garafolo is an object lesson in how not to do it - the saving grace being the archive footage.Gassing Station | Boats, Planes & Trains | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
