I'd like to think that I've got a broad sense of humour, much of it inappropriate (which has caused me to receive a ban sine fine from NP&E - possibly not a bad thing given how argumentative it gets there hehe) but I am struggling a little with what is/n't acceptable for humour on here.

2 examples:

- BBC clip of Nicola Sturgeon turned out to be a gorilla which was quite funny however another post then opined that said video clip was actually of Dianne Abbott which I felt was just straight racist only to be told that I'm being too sensitive.

- disabled kid in a cardboard tank is headed up 'special forces', again (IMO) this goes beyond what's acceptable.

The question is, because I sure as st don't know anymore, is that sort of thing acceptable these days and I should just STFU or is it still bang out of order? jokes about the McCanns I'm good with, cyanide and happiness is bloody funny and most things are (IMO) good to rip the piss out of

In 150 years time, not only will you be dead, but also everyone you know, everyone on this forum and everyone in the entire world.

I wouldn't worry too much about this stuff. smile

Anything can be funny

Offense is in the ears of the listener.

I can tell a joke, and you can be offended. That is absolutely your right, you are allowed to be offended.

You might also make assumptions about the persons telling the jokes.

There really is no such thing as inappropriate humour, quite literally anything can be funny.

People have very different senses of humour, mine is super dark so there are very few (if any) jokes that I would find to be over the line but other people have a lower threshold for offensiveness.

The only time I find 'jokes' to be offensive is when there is malicious intent trying to be disguised as a joke.

Not this st AGAIN. rolleyes

You are obviously an easily triggered perma-offended snowflake so why do you persist in viewing threads where you know you're going to be offended by the content within? Just stay out of the JTTMYS thread and your problems will be over.

You still haven't explained to us why your posting of sweet and innocent Greta dressed up as Hitler is acceptable but other similar content is not. Hyprocrisy much ? rolleyes

Ah yes, children, what we have here is anti- trolling.

Where the object of the post is to induce torpor and apathy for the viewer.

Nice try dude.

There's a business opportunity here - lot of holes to be dug/ coffins built, in the next 100 ish years about 10 billion people are going to die. More than ever before. Fish food for aquaculture?

I dislike the word "inappropriate" as it doesn't really work without some context (i.e. when would it be approproiate?).

These days it seems to mean "not illegal but I don't like it".

Example a couple of years ago a celeb held an exhibition of his art, some of which was a bit racy (paintings of young boys IIRC).

A spokesman said he had decided to close the exhibit as "even though it wasn't illegal it was inappropriate".

What more appropriate place to exhibit art than in an art gallery?

A very long time ago, my then girlfriend did a bit of nude modelling. One photographer took some extreme close ups of her lady garden (sans grass) for a Royal Photographic Society exhibition. I was told that as they were in black and white they were classed as "art".

Just because someone is offended by something it doesn't make it offensive. Something is only offensive when offence was the intent of the originator, imo.

So you are fine with someone claiming a middle aged white woman is a gorilla, but as soon as someone then spins it to a middle aged black woman being a gorilla you become offended by that?

So unless the comment specifically makes reference to her being a gorilla because of her colour, you have decided its about her colour, and then chosen to be offended about the fact that you think its about her colour, when it might have nothing to do with that.

Sounds a bit like your going out of your way to get offended by things so that you can show everyone how much of a morally upstanding person you are.
