Manchester Airport parking

While people shouldn't park illegally, and I feel for any residents who wish to park outside their own property, people are free to park where they like for as long as they like.
However, if it's airport parking companies doing this, that's completely wrong and the authorities should just close them down.

I'm sorry - people are free to park there on the provision that there are no yellow lines/restrictions. If residents want to control this implement a permit zone, alongside the normal annual costs for administration - can't have your cake and eat it.While people shouldn't park illegally, and I feel for any residents who wish to park outside their own property, people are free to park where they like for as long as they like.

I do similar at Stanstead, although slightly further away and get a £6-8 uber in each direction - still far cheaper than paying to park in their car park.

Stansted is absolutely outrageous for parking costs! Four bloody quid just to drop someone off at the terminal!!I do similar at Stanstead, although slightly further away and get a £6-8 uber in each direction - still far cheaper than paying to park in their car park.

Wythenshawe is one place I definitely wouldn't park my car and expect it still to be there when I came back!
It amazes that people are willing to leave an expensive car outside some randommers house just to save a few quid - I wouldn't do it anywhere, let alone Wythenshawe. People get arsey about people parking outside their houses and vandalism is to be a considerable risk.kiethton said:

That would be a right pain to be inflicted on the residents when it's caused by people who live outside the area. There's no automatic right to park on any road in the UK. Roads are for driving on and there shouldn't be any long-term parking on them.

If a road is free from parking restrictions, provided the parked car is taxed, insured, MOT'ed and parked appropriately (not over people's driveways etc) there is no problem with parking there in my book.
The permits was a pragmatic solution - a single yellow with a short daily time restriction would also achieve the same thing.

I don't know if it's a coincidence, but on Google Maps, one of the houses in Lownorth Road is tagged as "Manchester Airport Parking UK". While people shouldn't park illegally, and I feel for any residents who wish to park outside their own property, people are free to park where they like for as long as they like.

We pay tax to use the roads including parking. If there are no restrictions then people should be free to do so. If residents feel aggrieved then they should raise with their council and follow due process. Those vandalising cars should be the ones prosecuted.
Car parking companies should be restricted from carrying out this activity in their license, rather than target the motorist.

While I am quite aware that legally I can park there, it's another matter in reality. It's all very well being in the right, but I'd rather not have the hassle of hundreds of pounds in insurance excess, loads of aggro and stratospheric insurance premiums for the next five years.Gassing Station | News, Politics & Economics | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
