I'm pondering a new TV in the near future, but the one thing I am struggling with is what sources to get in place. I understand any new 4K tv looks pretty awful with an SD source.

Currently I have Freeview (mostly SD, and the few free to air HD channels fail in bad weather), and NowTV (only 720P).

I know Amazon, and Netflix have HD as standard, but am I resigned to signing up to a BT or SKY TV package again after a few years of freedom?

Depend what you want to watch.

Apple TV is great but that means buying off iTunes however it does many channel apps. There are other devices as well that do it.

4k firestick?

Black friday coming up, I got mine to replace my aging gen1 firestick, for 20 quid or so. (On Prime day).
