this isnt a bib bashing thread.
nor is it a 'what are your experiences with bad cops' thread.
i'm glad you lot hang around on this site, despite the grief, i guess working with the public you get pretty thick skins.
do you know why seemingly rational, mostly intelligent, basicly law abiding tax payers have a go occasionally?
ive met 4 coppers 'in the line of duty';
3pts ts10 (turned right on confusing junction - outside bishopsgate plod - favourite spot for them to position newbies cos so many people fall for it)
5pts sp50 (ok that was my fault- but conditions couldnt have been better)
burgaled (was told "yeah they do it on the way back from visiting the prison")
and to top it all had my gorgeous alpina b27 nicked and was told "you were asking for it with a car like that" - no i fuc4ing wasn't ! she got the message !
so in summary every experience ive had with plod has left me royally pi55ed off and i suspect i'm not alone. so dont take the bashing personally and stay around, sometimes you say something useful ;)

I got a nice wave from traffic plod the other day. I think he was congratulating me on my good progress because the hand signal was pressing down like a little pat on the head.
I touched my hat - to indicate that I thought that his white hat wasn't quite straight, and we all moved about our business.
At leastI think that's what happened.
They were trapping on Knightsbridge at 1 in the morning -- presumably to catch uninsured minicabs (now the only way to get around London for less than a lunchvoucher).

Big respect to trafpol on here - the place would be far less balanced and interesting without you.
The best way to bash bib is to get them back with their own sarcasm (although this is not necessarily wise at the roadside!)

Over the years I've probably come into contact with the BiB's about 20 times (speeding, document check, lost property, stopped to help at an accident, etc..) and I have never had a bad experience.
I can go off on one just like the next guy but I've had no reason to. Service I have had has always been OK (is it PC to say that being on the receiving end of a FPN is 'OK'?)
Traffic Police have soooooooooo much more discretion that a camera. It is about time we started appreciating them a bit more, rather than seeing them as the enemy.
I know a few due to my IAM/RoSPA stuff - They are genuine petrolheads who want to improve the roads - What is so wrong with that?

Fair point. But you ask the average man in the street whether he/she supports cameras and they are bound to say yes (although that can only be a metter of time given the millions of prosecutions) - they are of the beleift that cameras aid road safety whereas we know that they do nothing of the sort.
Got to say I haven't been pulled since 1980 but it was buy a real cop and I got points ( I deserved them so not complaining.
As for the camera malarky, it stinks and so does anybody involved be it a fixed camera, civvy or plod.
Personally, I'd be happy to be stopped by a traffic cop and listen to his comments re my driving. At least it would be safety related and not an attempt to prise tax from me.
