8.15 this morning set off to pick up car trailer , realise I have left my spare wheel at home , return home finally leave Asda petrol station at 9 heading for Hertfordshire.

Glorious weather down A1 , enjoy bacon butty at roadside cafe near destination by 1.30 "free" Geep is loaded up and we are on our way back to the A1 , quick stop at services to check tyres , tension of straps etc. and away we go at a steady 50 , then....

It starts raining hard , 10 minutes later NSF tyre blows out big style on trailer luckily we are next to first 3,2,1 signs for services near Peterborough so we limp off.

Oh yes I went back for spare wheel this morning but did I check I had a 11/16 socket for my bar NO! 2 1/2 hours later we are still sat in services cant find anyone or anywhere nearby that has one or a spider wheelbrace , one caravaner finds his 3/8 drive set but its not stong enough to crack nuts off , by this time Mrs Tonka is considering doing the same thing to mine!

Then a Snap-On tool van pulls in , SORTED , £9.50 for one "top quality" impact socket was a small price to pay compared with maybe coming back for the trailer later when we were still over 80 miles from home.

Moral of story , if you get up early cos you have a busy day ahead of you dont sit around having a cuppa check and double check you have everything!!!!!!!

NOPE , worse than that the AA guy parked near us refused also , the only person who was willing to help was the guy with the 3/8" cheapo socket set , he had the same thing happen to him when towing a boat and knew what it was like to be stranded.

The only good news is the guy I hire the trailer off @ £10/day said he would pay for the new wheel/tyre (the rim snapped when tyre blew ) as he felt we had been inconvenienced enough
